Special Programs
The Civic Theatre board of directors recently approved
changing the name of Center Stage to Studio 10 in order to
better communicate the purpose and nature of its productions.
Studio 10 has as its aim to produce plays that are little bit out
of the mainstream, requiring a smaller cast and usually simpler
sets and costumes. Occasionally, a play may be chosen which
because of adult themes will be for mature audiences only.
2009-10 SEASON
MOLLY SWEENEY
The complex story of a woman, blind since infancy, whose comfortable world is transformed when she regains her sight, Molly Sweeney is based on a case study of Dr. Oliver Sacks. Many of us who are sighted think of blindness as something we fear the most. However, Brian Friel's gloriously poetic words provide a positive view of blindness that jolts our preconception. It's really thought-provoking and wonderful.
Directed by Linda Ward
