A Musical Fable of Broadway

Based on a story and characters by Damon Runyon Music & Lyrics by Frank Loesser Book by Jo Swerling & Abe Burrows

Produced through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI)

Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, this romantic comedy soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces us to a cast of vivid characters who have become legends: the "mission doll," out to reform the evildoers of Times Square; the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she's been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and her devoted fiancé, Nathon Detroit, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game.

Directed by Greg & Charity Hawkins

Les Mis Auditions

Les Miserables - May 12

Director N. Ruth Brown and musical director Jon Hudnall are preparing to “hear the people sing” at auditions for RCT’s opening production, Les Misérables. They are seeking talented singer/actors who can demonstrate vocal strength and musicality, along with the ability to portray character and meaning through their singing.

Because of the expectation that this well-loved work will attract many area actors, the audition days will be character-specific and will be spread out over several days, beginning on May 12.

Both lead and ensemble roles are available for mature, experienced actor/singers from age 16 up. In addition, there are roles for a boy and girl, age 6 and up. Audition packets will be available at the theatre by mid-April, but prospective actors may begin to prepare now by strengthening and stretching their voices and familiarizing themselves with the music.

Rehearsals will begin the last week of May and will continue through the summer. Effort will be made to work around vacation schedules and other commitments during June and the first half of July. However, beginning on July 21st, it is expected that all cast members will be available Sunday through Thursday nights each week through the end of the production dates, which are August 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30 and 31.

If “the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drum,” make plans to audition for Les Misérables. Contact Ruth at nruthbrown@lycos.com or Jon at ICKTHUUS@aol.com with any questions. We look forward to seeing you at auditions!
