64th Season Celebrated

Two hundred and fifty volunteers, members, and friends of RCT gathered on the evening of June 11 to participate in the theatre's annual Volunteer Recognition/Awards Night.  Live scenes from the six Main Stage productions and the two Studio 10 offerings were interspersed with the awards presentations.  Stage One Program Director, Becky Jewison, received a standing ovation as she reviewed another highly successful year of our youth theatre. Peter Pan made a brief flying appearance offering a preview for RCT's 65th year, "A Season to Warm the Heart."

The evening was opened  by five RCT veterans:  Bob Sizemore, Bill Jacobs, Bob Myers, Galen Miller, and Charlie Matthews offering their own comic version of These Are a Few of My Favorite Things.  In a departure from recent years, former winners in each category made the award presentations for their specialty. Between them, Annie and Ragtime swept all show award categories. (For details of the awards, please click here.) Malynda Clevenger, who, together with her husband and two sons,  had a significant role to play in all of the 2004-05 Main Stage productions, was awarded the Joan Vigran Volunteer of the Year award.  The President's award was presented to the conveners of two committees who have played a major role in extending the theatre's impact on our area: The Classic Film Series Committee and the Ripple Effect Committee.  There were also dual awards made of the prestigious Norbert Silbiger Award for Extended Service to the Theatre.  Bob Sizemore and Bob and Velda Myers were the 2005 recipients for their many years of volunteering at RCT.
